In Belgium’s job market, language skills matter more than ever. English has become just as important as, if not more than, our third national language, German. Plus, it is opening doors, even for those without experience.

At Evertys, we see this first hand. Our Talent Acquisition intern, Laurie Bono, studies multilingual communication in Dutch and English. She helps clients hire multilingual talent for admin and customer service roles, some of which don’t require prior experience! Speaking multiple languages is now already a major advantage.

Many employers today are looking for strong communicators. If you can switch between languages easily, you become an asset in many industries, from customer service to sales and administration.

Here’s why multilingualism matters:

  • More job opportunities: Companies are going global and working with diverse clients. If you can switch between languages easily, you’re already a step ahead.

  • Experience isn’t always a must: We’ve seen candidates land great jobs in admin or customer service just because of their language skills. Long resumes are not always needed.

  • Cultural awareness & adaptability: Knowing multiple languages isn’t just about words. It helps you connect with people, understand different cultures, and thrive in international teams.

  • A future-proof skill: The world’s only getting more connected, and businesses will always need multilingual talent to keep up.

Laurie’s perspective

“Studying multilingual communication has shown me just how powerful language skills are in building careers. When I reach out to candidates, I see bilingual or trilingual speakers getting hired fast, even without much experience. Employers know that strong communication is key to success.

English, in particular, is a game-changer. While Dutch and French are still essential in Belgium, English is what connects businesses across regions and industries. Even local companies rely on it to work with international clients, partners, and suppliers.”

Experience isn’t always the top priority. At Evertys, we also collaborate with industry-leading companies seeking multilingual talent for in administration support and customer service. In those areas, strong language skills matter just as much as experience.

Some typical roles in Administration or Customer Service include:
  • Junior KYC

  • Junior operations officer

  • Customer service officer

  • Assistant relationship manager

If you’ve got strong language skills and are ready for your next opportunity, don’t hesitate to reach out to Laurie!
